Why take this tour?

Key West is a very unique island in the middle of the ocean. It has crystal clear and shallow waters that are every kayaker's dream. At night, without a glare from the sun, with the use of artificial, battery-powered light - you will get an unforgettable experience that will make you feel like you're kayaking in the very large aquarium. Going on the water in the kayak at night, under the stars is an amazing experience on its own - seeing some really cool nocturnal marine life and being educated about it - is a really nice bonus!

Frequently asked questions

That would mean that all the singles are already booked. Please browse other dates or tour times. Our online booking system shows real-time availability - if it doesn't let you book - it means we don't have it available.
It is possible for a single person to ride a double kayak solo but that person needs to be 190lbs or less because all the weight will be just on one end of the boat (without anything on the other end to counter-weight).
Our first tour starts 15 minutes after sunset so the exact times of the tour vary throughout the year. Once that first tour books full, we start booking late night tour that leaves 2 hours after sunset. We need a minimum of 6 participants to do the second tour. Once you book your tour online, you will get a confirmation email that will include the approximate check in time, detailed directions, payment details etc.
All our tours are guided by trained professional tour guides. They make sure that you're safe and that you get the most out of the experience. The tour guide will jump in the water and show you different critters, educate you about them.
We do not offer shuttle service. We do offer complimentary garage parking for the duration of the tour.
There is a restroom facility located beside the pool on the Marriott Beachside that our tour guests are welcome to use.
Our tour is suitable for kids 4 years old and up riding a double kayak with a parent.
Night Kayak is the group activity. Our fully booked tour will have 6 single kayaks and 6 double kayaks on it.
Single kayak 250lbs Double kayak 350lbs for two people combined weight
In our opinion, the perception of the tour is about the same in a single or double kayak.
Shorts and t-shirts. Bring a hoodie for colder nights during winter time. You might get a little wet but you shouldn't get soaked. Shoes, water shoes and flip flops stay on the dock as they scratch the plexiglass bottom of the kayaks.
It's not buggy at all despite what most people think. Please DO NOT use bug spray as the chemicals that are in it damage the clear coat of the plexiglass kayak bottoms.
We have a dock-box that we lock for the duration of the tour. You're welcome to leave your things inside and your tour guide will unlock it after the tour.
You can bring a bottle of water etc but alcohol is not allowed. You have to be 100% sober to do this tour. If you show signs of intoxication we will refuse service and you will not be refunded. Your safety is our priority.
You will see nocturnal marine life that becomes active at night but we can't promise any particular animals as every tour is different and we don't have residential critters that would always be waiting there for us :)
Minimum 24hrs notice before scheduled tour to receive full refund - that gives us a chance to resell your tickets. We reserve the right to cancel the tour for safety reasons, fe. weather etc. If we cancel the tour - everybody receives full refund. Refunds usually take around 10 business days to process and reflect on your credit card.

A truly unique experience getting see the marine life of the mangrove forests of key west at night. The boats work and kept you from feeling lost in the dark. Our guide was both concerned for our safety and did his best to educate and find wildlife for the group. It was very entertaining for our group of six and eblveryone left happy. We saw crabs iguanas nurse sharks stingrays, barracudas shrimp and much more. If you are in the keys you should check this out.

This was so fun! Jason was an incredible guide, was very passionate about the ocean life he was showing us and helped point out lots of creatures. We got lots of up close interactions with animals! A much cooler spin on traditional kayaking - highly recommend!!!

Great guide and great experience. Guide knew his stuff. Saw large nurse sharks, octopus, sea hare, and lobster to name a few of the marine species. Even ran across a few manatee!

google reviews

Kayaking around shorelines is one of my favorite ways to know an area intimately. I've always done it alone. I knew a night kayaking experience would be interesting but I was entirely unprepared for how interesting this would be. The guide was so eager to teach us about local wildlife, his energy was infectious. We saw (and occasionally touched) creatures I'd never have noticed on my own. This experience will vastly exceed your expectations, I guarantee it.

Not sure what we were in for and thought we might see some fish. Wow! Octopus, different crab species, sea hare, brittle starfish, sponges, nurse shark, manatee and more! And kayaking at night. Well worth it, highly recommend. Great guide!

Night kayaking is one of the coolest things you can do in Key West. Our guide Jason was super enthusiastic about the wildlife, and was able to point out so many different species and teach us about them. The kayaking was very easy and it was a beautiful night. 10/10

tripadvisor reviews

What a unique experience! Our guide, Jason, was truly phenomenal. He made an effort to get to know us, has a great sense of humor and was so very knowledgeable about the things he hoped we would see on our tour. He went out of his way to educate us about the unique mangrove habitat through his stories. He was passionate and it made this trip so worth it. The paddling is super easy, so no one needs to worry about that part. We saw a sea slug, a lobster, an octopus, an iguana high in a tree, and apparently there were a few nurse sharks (but I was the only one in the group who did NOT see them). 5 stars all the way for this tour!

Safe, interesting, clean and visually appealing is what we can say about this excursion. The bugs were not too bag and we saw sharks, barracuda, octopus and jelly fish. The sea slug was cool. The group was large and we ran a tad late. Our well travel guide was knowledgeable and articulate. You get what you pay for on this side trip in the evening.

Fun experience! The guid was very informative, and we got to hold and touch a few different sea animals. This is our second time with the same guide and he was just as awesome.

So much fun! The night we went was a full moon, it was beautiful. Thanks so much for a memorable experience!

Jason was so knowledgeable and helpful with both the kayaking and the ocean life. He made the experience special with kindness, and information. We had a couple people with us that had never kayaked and were a bit fearful and he was great with our group. We saw anemone, lobster, barracuda, sharks, sea stars, jelly fish, coral, and even a manatee plus more!! And the special bonus was a rescued iPhone. Highly recommend!!

google reviews

This is definitely worth doing! Jason was an awesome guide and we saw a lot of really cool sea creatures!

Jason was such a great guide. We got up close with a starfish and octopus. You can tell he loves what he does. Thank you!

Jason was fabulous! We had a great time. Jason was funny, interactive, and full of information. He jumps in the water like Steve Irwin would have. Such a great way to spend an evening. GO BOOK IT NOW!!!! You will be happy you did.

We expected an hour of kayaking on our own but what we got was far better. Our guide kayaked with us through mangrove tunnels, up and down the bay while he explained the local ecosystem. He would jump from his kayak and net fish, crabs and octopus for us to view up close and even handle before returning them back to the water. The see-through kayaks allowed us to see ocean life up close and clearly. It was a fantastic experience.
