Mission
We are a family-owned and operated tour company, bringing the best tours experiences to tourists in Key West for over a decade. In 2012 we had an idea to put lights on the glass bottom kayak and go out on the water at night. We wanted to do this to provide Key West visitors with a unique way to experience the beauty and wildlife that exists here. We were the first in Florida and one of the first in the entire world.
Story
When we first launched this innovative new tour type, it wasn't easy to convince our customers that kayaking at night is extremely cool and not creepy. Shortly after introducing our LED Night Paddle Tour it proved to be a huge success and the number of stoked tour participants kept growing. If you did a clear bottom kayak at night in Key West between 2012 and 2019 you did it with us! Our tour quickly became one of the top things to do in Key West and the highlight of the entire vacation for most people.
Why choose us?
Explore Key West in Glow Kayaks Let's explore a different kind of nightlife, as seen on a Night Kayak Key West tour, and leave the details to us! We have planned a magical experience with well-prepared equipment and highly trained guides. Our local guides know this area well, and they will take you on a night kayak tour of those out of the way, hidden spots to experience the nocturnal marine life of the Keys. This will be an unforgettable experience, which is sure to be the highlight of any trip to Key West.
Location
Our new location is sheltered from the wind, has mangrove tunnels that are magical at night, and has a much bigger variety of marine life for you to enjoy. Pass through many areas of interest including the mangrove island rookeries which are home to ibis, herons, pelicans, and their fledglings. Make sure you bring a camera to capture your favorite species sightings.

Location
A trip to Florida would not be complete without visiting this southernmost point in the continental United States. While you are here, you are actually closer to Havana, Cuba, than Miami, and Cuban food is featured prominently on many menus. Plan to try foods inspired by the flavors of the Caribbean, including conch fritters, pink shrimp, stone crab, hogfish. Be sure to leave room for dessert, as this is the home of the famous Key lime pie! Underwater enthusiasts come to visit the world's third-largest living coral reef. The reef extends as far as Miami to the north and the Dry Tortugas National Park to the west. Throughout the Keys, there is an abundant variety of sea life, including colorful fish, manatees, bottlenose dolphins, sea sponges, turtles and so much more. Visitors will enjoy the laid-back lifestyle. Activities include water sports, visiting historic sites and lounging on picturesque white-sand beaches. The unique architecture of the conch-style houses was first developed here in Key West.

FAQs
I am trying to book a single kayak but the reservation system doesn't let me, I only see doubles?
That would mean that all the singles are already booked. Please browse other dates or tour times. Our online booking system shows real-time availability - if it doesn't let you book - it means we don't have it available.
If all single kayaks are booked, can I book a double and ride solo?
It is possible for a single person to ride a double kayak solo but that person needs to be 190lbs or less because all the weight will be just on one end of the boat (without anything on the other end to counter-weight).
What time does your tour start?
Our first tour starts 15 minutes after sunset so the exact times of the tour vary throughout the year. Once that first tour books full, we start booking late night tour that leaves 2 hours after sunset. We need a minimum of 6 participants to do the second tour. Once you book your tour online, you will get a confirmation email that will include the approximate check in time, detailed directions, payment details etc.
Is the tour guided or do we go by ourselves?
All our tours are guided by trained professional tour guides. They make sure that you're safe and that you get the most out of the experience. The tour guide will jump in the water and show you different critters, educate you about them.
Do you offer shuttle service to your location?
We do not offer shuttle service. We do offer complimentary garage parking for the duration of the tour.
Are there restrooms or changing rooms on your property?
There is a restroom facility located beside the pool on the Beachside Resort & Residences that our tour guests are welcome to use.
What is a minimum age for your tour?
Our tour is suitable for kids 4 years old and up riding a double kayak with a parent.
Are the night kayak tours private? How many people go on the tour?
Night Kayak is the group activity. Our fully booked tour will have 6 single kayaks and 6 double kayaks on it.
What is the weight limit of the kayaks?
Single kayak 250lbs
Double kayak 350lbs for two people combined weight
Is there a big difference single vs double kayak? Do you see more in a single?
In our opinion, the perception of the tour is about the same in a single or double kayak.
What do you recommend we wear for the kayak tour? Are we going to get wet?
Shorts and t-shirts. Bring a hoodie for colder nights during winter time. You might get a little wet but you shouldn't get soaked. Shoes, water shoes and flip flops stay on the dock as they scratch the plexiglass bottom of the kayaks.
Is is buggy there at night, are there mosquitoes? Can we use the bug spray?
It's not buggy at all despite what most people think. Please DO NOT use bug spray as the chemicals that are in it damage the clear coat of the plexiglass kayak bottoms.
Do you have lockers where we can leave our valuables?
We have a dock-box that we lock for the duration of the tour. You're welcome to leave your things inside and your tour guide will unlock it after the tour.
Can we bring drinks? is alcohol allowed?
You can bring a bottle of water etc but alcohol is not allowed. You have to be 100% sober to do this tour. If you show signs of intoxication we will refuse service and you will not be refunded. Your safety is our priority.
What are we going to see on this tour?
You will see nocturnal marine life that becomes active at night but we can't promise any particular animals as every tour is different and we don't have residential critters that would always be waiting there for us :)
What is your cancellation policy?
Minimum 24hrs notice before scheduled tour to receive full refund - that gives us a chance to resell your tickets. We reserve the right to cancel the tour for safety reasons, fe. weather etc. If we cancel the tour - everybody receives full refund. Refunds usually take around 10 business days to process and reflect on your credit card.

Private Budget Friendly Key West Small Boat Sandbar Hop
Experience the beauty of the sandbars around Key West on a private small-boat adventure designed for couples, families, or small groups of up to four guests. This trip is the most affordable private charter option we offer—perfect if you want the fun of a sandbar tour without the cost of a larger boat.
Your captain will take you on a scenic ride through the turquoise backcountry waters before arriving at some of the most stunning shallow sandbars in the Florida Keys. Many of these spots feature crystal-clear water that’s often ankle- to knee-deep, making them perfect for relaxing, swimming, floating, and enjoying the tropical atmosphere.
Why This Tour Is Special
Our Robalo Cayman 206 is smaller than typical charter boats, which means it can glide into super-shallow areas and hidden sandbars that bigger boats simply can’t reach. The shallow draft allows us to explore calm backcountry waters, mangrove islands, and quiet sandbars where you can step right into the warm, clear water and relax like a local.
A Relaxed, Private Experience
Unlike crowded group tours, this is your own private boat and captain. Whether you want to swim, play music, explore mangrove islands, or simply float with a drink in hand, the trip is tailored to your pace. Guests consistently describe sandbar trips in Key West as fun, relaxing, and one of the highlights of their vacation, often spending hours swimming, listening to music, and enjoying the beautiful water.
What You’ll See
Depending on weather and tides, we may visit several famous local sandbars and backcountry spots, including shallow areas near mangrove islands or social sandbars where locals gather on sunny days. Many sandbars are just a short boat ride from the marina, making it easy to spend most of the trip enjoying the water instead of traveling.
The Best Value Private Charter
This tour was designed to offer the best value private sandbar experience in Key West. You still get the same beautiful water, great captain, and unforgettable sandbar atmosphere—but on a smaller boat that keeps the trip simple, intimate, and budget-friendly.
Bring your drinks, snacks, sunscreen, and good vibes—we’ll take care of the rest.
Sales Pitch
If you’re looking for a fun, private boat day in Key West without the high charter price, this tour is the perfect option. Our small-boat sandbar trip is designed for couples, families, and small groups who want the same beautiful sandbars and crystal-clear water as larger charters—just in a more affordable and intimate setting.
You’ll cruise through the calm turquoise backcountry waters before stopping at some of the best shallow sandbars around Key West. Because the Robalo Cayman 206 has a shallow draft, it can reach skinny water and quiet sandbars that bigger boats often can’t access. That means more time relaxing in clear, warm water and discovering spots many visitors never see.
This is a completely private trip, so the experience is tailored to you. Want to float in the shallows, explore mangrove islands, listen to music, or just relax with a drink in hand? Your captain will customize the trip based on the weather, tides, and what you’d like to do.
The trip is also easy to fit into your vacation schedule. In just a few hours you can visit beautiful sandbars, swim in warm tropical water, and enjoy the laid-back island atmosphere that makes Key West famous.
If you want a simple, fun, and budget-friendly way to experience the sandbars like a local, this private small-boat adventure is one of the best values on the water.

Itinerary
Day 1: Typical Itinerary (3–4 Hour Private Sandbar Trip)
Please note: Every trip is a little different. Weather, wind, and tides play a major role in where we go and which sandbars we visit. Your captain will choose the best locations for the day to ensure the safest and most enjoyable experience.
1. Meet & Departure
Meet your captain at the marina for a quick safety briefing before boarding the boat. Once underway, you’ll cruise through the beautiful turquoise waters surrounding Key West.
2. Scenic Cruise Through the Backcountry
Enjoy a relaxing ride through shallow backcountry waters and mangrove islands. Along the way, keep an eye out for local wildlife such as seabirds, rays, and sometimes dolphins.
3. First Sandbar Stop
Anchor at a shallow sandbar where you can step right into clear, warm water. Relax, swim, float, and enjoy the tropical atmosphere.
4. Explore Additional Sandbars
Depending on conditions and your preferences, your captain may take you to another nearby sandbar or scenic shallow-water location. Because the boat has a shallow draft, it can reach skinny-water areas many larger boats cannot.
5. Relax & Enjoy the Water
Spend time hanging out in the water, floating, listening to music, and soaking up the sun. Bring your drinks and snacks to enjoy while relaxing at the sandbar.
6. Scenic Cruise Back to the Marina

FAQs
Are we guaranteed to go to all destinations mentioned in the itinerary?
Unfortunately not. All trips are weather permitting and sometimes the itinerary would need to be modified so we can avoid rough and choppy waters.
Is Snipe Point accessible in any weather conditions?
Because to get to Snipes we have to run in deeper gulf waters, this sandbar is not accessible during days of N, NW and NE winds. If we can’t get you there, we would offer to modify your itinerary so you would still have a very enjoyable boat tour.
What is the difference between the 3 hour and 4 hour sandbar hopping trip?
3hr trip goes to sandbars located 30 minutes boat ride from Key West - Jewfish Sandbar and Mud Keys. 4hr trip goes further away to Snipes Sandbar - weather permitting.
Are we going to have the sandbars all to ourselves?
Usually not. There’s only a handful of these gorgeous destinations so they are often visited by local boat owners. The traffic is usually higher during weekends and holidays.
Are we allowed to bring alcohol?
Yes

What do people say about Night Kayak?
Had a great time! Booked the trip for my mother and she loved it! Very cool experience to see such beautiful water and wildlife. Our tour guide Brandon made the trip very fun and exciting and was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend for anyone, even veterans of the water will appreciate a different view of the world!

I loved this! It was an amazing experience. We walked down to the dock a few minutes early and watched our guide get the kayaks ready. We did the 8:30 time slot which I loved because we watched the sunset from the dock before we got in the water. Then it was kind of still light for the beginning but got darker as we went. It was so cool being on the water at night. There were 12 kayaks in our group and the guide did a great job of keeping us kind of together but also not too bunched up. Except when he was showing us all the creatures he collected. We saw different crab species, sea slugs, lobster, star fish, barracuda and tarpon. It was really cool to watch them under the glass of the kayak and even to just see the coral and grasses under us. Loved it and I will do it again. Highly recommend this tour. Thank you Brandon - Great job!

Really fun time. Boats were super clean and in great shape, guide was friendly, excited, knowledgeable, and keen to get his hands dirty. He kept us safe and well informed. I would put this at a very very beginner level skill set. There are a few deeper areas crossing the channel but the majority of the tour we could stand in the water. We saw lots of creatures and creepy crawlies.

His passion for kayaking and the local area really showed, and he went above and beyond to make the tour enjoyable and memorable. We learned so much, saw amazing sights, and had an incredible time. We had a blast! We did the 8:30pm tour and it was a beautiful night for it. I loved going through the Mangrove tunnels and seeing the sea stars, spiney lobster, nurse sharks and the HUGE 4 foot long Iguana as well as all the different fish. The water was warm and it was so serene out there. I have kayaked on the ocean through big swells but this was so different and I loved it. Our guide Jimmy and he was great.

Night Kayak is a must-do in Key West. Our original booking was cancelled due to rain, we were given the option to get a refund or rebook for later in the week. I am so glad we squeezed it in on another night. Matt was a great guide. The tour took us across a channel, under a bridge, and through a mangrove tunnel. We saw many fish, crabs, jellyfish and Matt was able to grab a spiney lobster for everyone to look at. The kayaks are very sturdy. While I am not the best on the water, I felt very comfortable sticking with the group. Would do again!

This was one of the coolest things I've experienced! We booked for Wednesday night, but the weather was forecast to turn ugly. Brandon called us and gave us the option to move our reservation to Thursday night, or receive refunds. We moved our reservations, and are glad we did. The company uses some sort of sliding platform that allows you to get into, and out of, the kayaks very easily. Getting in and out of the water is as simple and pulling on the handrails on the sides of the platform. The clear bottom kayaks, and the LED lighting, made it easy to see to the bottom of the shallow ocean we kayaked through. We saw a lot of life, including iguanas in the trees, sea sponges, crab, lobster, jellyfish, octopus, starfish, a couple small schools of fish like blue tetras, and a couple tarpons. Brandon, our tour guide, let us hold or touch a crab, starfish, lobster, and octopus. All very cool! I will definitely do this again next time I'm in Key West.

This was an amazing time, it took me out of my comfort zone and I absolutely loved it. I feel bad I can’t recall the name of the young man that took us, but he was great. He knew everything about our surroundings and all the sea life and critters in the trees. I highly recommend this.Lisa

This is a must do. This was the first time my son and I have ever kayaked at night. What a great time. Things to know before hand: Have cash for a tip. No mosquito repellent is allowed because it can damage the clear bottom of the kayak and be prepared to take your shoes off before entering the kayak.

We had 6 of us on the trip and our guide Matt was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the wildlife and he showed us quite a few different types of crabs, jelly fish, fish, and pointed out some land dwelling animals that hang around at night. The kayak's clear bottoms allowed us to see the bottom and watch the native animals in their natural habitat. We had an absolute blast!! Thank you!!

We had so much fun on the night Kayak tour with Brandon. We have stayed next door at Hyatt Beachouse for years and watch these folks go out. Finally we got to go! It's great for any level. My husband and I did a tandem and it was great. We got to see so many different fish, sea stars, lobsters, barracuda and iguanas in the trees! With the lighted and clear bottom kayaks, it was easy to see sea life. He was very knowledgeable and would stop us all to point things out or to actually hold or touch different little creatures. Highly recommend this trip. And if you're older no worries. My husband and I are not spring chickens and he was very helpful getting us in and out of the kayak. Plus the launch set up they have makes it extremely easyBonus, made some new friends floating with us from all over. Don't miss out. Great for all ages. Sorry most of my pics didn't come out .

Amazing kayaking experience hosted by Brendon who was very knowledgeable and considerate. He held the wildlife carefully and made sure every creature was treated gently as he held each for us to touch. He answered our questions too. First time for us to have a night kayaking trip, was fun and good value for money too. If you get a chance, give it a go, and remember your shorts will get wet!

This was a really fun adventure- night kayaking was beautiful and seeing underwater critters lit up was really neat. We saw a couple kinds of crabs, sponges, tunicates, sea hares (sea slugs), starfish, nurse sharks, mangrove oysters, an egret hunting at night, iguanas in the branches above us, spiny lobster, barracudas, upside down jellyfish, an anhinga, and the stars above us. Our tour guide Brandon was super knowledgeable and shared lots of biology facts and info about what we were seeing, showed us cool features of different sea life, talked about how some of their defense mechanisms worked, and had a good sense of humor.

What is the recommended attire for a Night Kayak tour?
We recommend wearing comfortable, quick-drying clothing that you don't mind getting slightly wet for your Night Kayak tour. Avoid heavy cotton apparel that stays wet for a long time. Definitely bring a towel and a change of clothes for after the tour.
Can I wear glasses or sunglasses on a Night Kayak tour?
Yes, you can wear glasses or sunglasses on a Night Kayak tour. However, we strongly recommend using a retainer strap or 'Croakies' to secure them, as they can easily slip off and be lost in the water. For night tours, sunglasses are generally not necessary after sunset. If you rely on prescription glasses, consider bringing a spare pair if possible, or ensuring they are well secured for the duration of the paddle.
Is there an age limit for the Night Kayak Guided Tour?
Yes, there is generally a minimum age limit for the Night Kayak Guided Tour, typically around 6 to 8 years old, although this can vary and it's best to check our website for the most current policy. Our guides will assist you in selecting the correct size and ensuring it is worn correctly before launching. Your safety is our paramount concern.
How deep is the water during the Night Kayak tour?
The water depth during the Night Kayak tour can vary, but we primarily navigate through shallow mangrove channels and flats. Depths typically range from a few inches to a few feet, making it a safe and accessible environment for kayaking. Our kayaks are designed for shallow waters. While unlikely to be in deep ocean, it's always good practice to wear your life vest and be comfortable being in and around water. Guides are knowledgeable of the routes.
What happens if it rains during a Night Kayak tour?
If it starts to rain during a Night Kayak tour, our guide will assess the intensity and duration of the rainfall. Light, passing showers are often part of the Key West experience and tours may continue. However, if the rain becomes heavy, accompanied by lightning, or if conditions are deemed unsafe by our guide, the tour will be cut short or canceled for safety. Your safety is our priority, and we will offer rescheduling or refunds in such cases.
